Privacy Policy

We care about your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use our website or visit Pluma.

1. Who We Are

Pluma Fried Chicken operates the website plumachicken.com and our restaurant at 5140 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL. When we say "we," "us," or "Pluma," we mean the business responsible for this site and our location.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few ways:

  • Account information: when you create an account, your name, email address, phone number, a securely hashed password, and whether your email has been verified.
  • Orders placed on our site: your name, email, phone number, any delivery address, and the items in your order. Card payments are processed securely by Square — we do not store your full card number.
  • Rewards: if you join our rewards program, your points balance and points history, tied to your account.
  • Contact form: name, email, and message when you submit our contact form (e.g., for catering or feedback).
  • Phone and email: when you call or email us, we may keep a record of the conversation or contact details to respond or follow up.
  • Third-party ordering links: when you order through a third-party link (e.g., a delivery or pickup partner), that partner collects payment and order details under their own privacy policy.

We may also collect information automatically when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages you view, using cookies and analytics as described in the Cookies section below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Fulfill and manage orders placed on our site and through partners
  • Operate our rewards program
  • Respond to your inquiries, contact form submissions, and feedback
  • Send you updates about Pluma (e.g., hours, events) if you have asked to receive them
  • Improve our website, services, and customer experience
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these situations:

  • Payment and technology providers: with service providers that operate our website and process transactions on our behalf — for example Square, Resend, Google, and Vercel (see Third-Party Services below).
  • Order and service partners: with third parties that help us fulfill orders (e.g., delivery or ordering platforms) so they can complete your transaction.
  • Legal: when required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale of assets, or other change in ownership, subject to the same privacy commitments.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third parties to operate our website and serve you. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it processes:

  • Square — payment processing and order management.
  • Resend — sending transactional emails such as order confirmations and account verification.
  • Google Analytics — understanding how visitors use our site, only after you accept analytics cookies (see Cookies below).
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.

Our website may also link to social media such as Instagram, which has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how these services collect or use your information, and we encourage you to read their policies.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct or update that information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

If you have a Pluma account, you can act on some of these rights yourself from your Privacy & Data page: download a copy of your data, or permanently delete your account. You can also contact us via our contact page or call (786) 957-2444. We will respond in line with applicable law.

8. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and your shopping cart, which is stored in your browser's local storage. These are required for the site to work and are always on.
  • Consent: a cookie named pluma-consent that remembers your cookie choice.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Analytics runs with Google Consent Mode v2 and is off by default — no analytics cookies are set until you accept them using our cookie banner.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing the pluma-consent cookie in your browser, which brings the banner back. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, though some features of the site may not work as intended.

9. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

  • Orders: we retain order records for tax and accounting purposes (generally up to seven years). When you delete your account, we anonymize these records — removing personal details while keeping the financial information we are required to retain.
  • Account and rewards: kept for the life of your account and anonymized when you delete it.
  • Personal details (name, email, phone, address): deleted or anonymized when you close or delete your account.
  • Logs: short-lived operational logs held by our hosting provider.
  • Cookie choice: your consent cookie lasts about one year.

10. Children

Our website and services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review it periodically. Your continued use of the website after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Contact Us
